What Is MLS Class IV Laser Therapy Used to Treat?
Arthritis & Chronic Pain
If you suffer from ongoing pain from arthritis or non-specific lower back pain. Laser therapy is a fantastic non-drug, non-invasive treatment to help you reduce and manage your pain and regain movement within your joints.
Swelling & Inflammation
Class 4 lasers have a very powerful anti-oedema effect. Reducing swelling and inflammation for both acute and chronic conditions. Start removing swelling immediately after a sports injury, and contrary to icing, increases blood flow and increases healing. Making it a more effective modality for your recovery.
Sports injuries
As soon as you are injured, as long as any bleeding has stopped, we can start accelerating your recovery by removing swelling quickly and bio stimulating any tissues that require healing. Reducing pain to aid your rehab and getting you back to sport quickly!
Ligament & Tendon Pain
Whether you are dealing with tendonitis or are recovering from a ligament sprain or rupture. Laser therapy will accelerate the healing of the targeted tissues that normally take longer to healer due to their comparative lack of blood supply.
Back & Joint Pain
From disc bulging in the back to bursitis in the shoulder joint. Our class iv laser is 24 x more powerful than any 'cold' laser available on the market, and can penetrate into the joint and accelerate healing.
Muscle strains & Spasms
With acute injuries you can often feel reduction in pain, increased blood flow, and relaxation after just one session. Laser therapy will reduce tension and sensitivity to recently strained muscles whilst also healing the soft tissue.
How Does It Work?
MLS Class IV laser therapy is an advanced medical treatment that utilises specific wavelengths of light to penetrate tissues and stimulate cellular activity. This therapy works through the principle of photobiomodulation, where light energy is absorbed by cells and converted into biochemical energy. Unlike lower-powered lasers, Class IV lasers deliver a higher intensity of light, allowing for deeper penetration into tissues, making it effective for treating a variety of conditions.
When the laser is applied to the affected area, it interacts with chromophores within cells, primarily cytochrome c oxidase, a component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. This interaction triggers a cascade of cellular events, including increased production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy currency of cells. As ATP levels rise, cellular metabolism is boosted, leading to accelerated tissue repair, reduced inflammation, and pain relief. Additionally, MLS Class IV laser therapy has been shown to stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving substances produced by the body.
Furthermore, MLS Class IV laser therapy is a non-invasive and safe treatment option with minimal side effects. The therapy can be customized to target specific wavelengths and treatment parameters based on the condition being addressed and the depth of tissue penetration required. This versatility allows healthcare professionals to tailor treatment plans to meet the individual needs of patients. Whether used alone or in combination with other therapies, MLS Class IV laser therapy offers a promising approach to managing a wide range of musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, promoting faster healing and improving overall quality of life for patients.
